Manila, an iconic restaurant chain from the United Kingdom is bringing its authentic, fresh, and made-to-order Italian-inspired pizzas to the Philippines. Manila pizza lovers are in for a treat as PizzaExpress opens in Uptown Mall BGC, one of Manila’s main business and lifestyle districts.

Based on the original ideology from 1965 in Soho, London, we offer delicious pizzas, beautifully designed restaurants, and impeccable service. PizzaExpress’ founder Peter Boizot opened the first restaurant in Wardour Street, London in 1965. Headquartered in London, PizzaExpress is one of the most successful restaurant brands in the U.K. with more than 500 restaurants in 13 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

PizzaExpress’ entry in the Philippines marks the third international market in Southeast Asia after previously expanding in Singapore and Indonesia. The new Uptown Mall restaurant is the first of PizzaExpress’ planned expansion in the Philippines over the next several years.

Manila can look forward to the complete PizzaExpress experience, enjoying signature dishes like Calabrese and Dough Balls, together with a variety of mouthwatering handmade pizzas, fresh salads, and pastas in the 150 square meter, 77-seater restaurant. The modernized interiors will have the iconic PizzaExpress look & feel and will have an open kitchen, where diners can watch the pizzaiolos (pizza chefs) flaring the dough.

Among PizzaExpress’ offerings, the Calabrese is famous for being the only rectangular pizza on the menu. It packs a Southern Italian punch with its hot Calabrese sausage, spicy and soft ‘nduja salami, and fresh chillies. The tomato passata used on Calabrese and most pizzas are made in Italy by the same Greci family since 1965, which is now imported to Manila.

Equally popular are the Dough Balls, a unique creation by PizzaExpresssoft, warm, and freshly baked nuggets of dough that are dipped in garlic butter and pesto sauce. The same Dough Balls can also double as a dessert and be enjoyed with Nutella spread!
